Registration for the Yukon River Quest (YRQ) opens November 1st.
Due to the current COVID situation, they are currently only taking a waitlist fee of $50. A full payment will be required in the spring.
If you are new to the race and want to race solo, you have to get YRQ’s approval first. To do that, you must email them a brief description of your paddling and wilderness skills and experience so they can decide whether or not you are safe in the northern bush in poor conditions when you are exhausted. Documents can be sent to info@yukonriverquest.com
They will require proof of vaccination for all paddlers and their support crews. You will need to declare that you are vaccinated when you sign a waiver, and will be required to present vaccination certificates at check-in in Whitehorse.
Meanwhile, the Autumn Classic Canoe Race took place last Saturday on the McClintock River on the last Saturday in September, as usual.
The race was not only fast, bet very compact. From the moment the first boat was in sight there were no gaps until the last boat, and that was only a couple of minutes. The next canoe race will be in the Spring.
