Record turnout for Sima races

Mt. Sima welcomed a record turnout for the Board Stiff Yukon Snowboarding Championships on Sunday.

Mt. Sima welcomed a record turnout for the Board Stiff Yukon Snowboarding Championships on Sunday.

The championships included a slope-style race and freestyle competition on Saturday, followed by a ski and snowboard cross race on Sunday that was held together with Simapalooza.

Mt. Sima was packed with skiers and riders Sunday, who turned out for the annual party on the mountain.

Chris Cann placed first overall in the snow-cross race heading into the finals, followed by Max Melvin-McNutt and Patrick Parker. Results from the final races were not reported.

In Saturday's slope-style race, Stacey Macklon and Talia Woodland tied for first in the 13-16 division, followed by Sam Macklon in the under 17 division in second for the girls.

In the boys race, Tim Shirmer earned first in the under-12 division, Noah Hutchinson was first in the 13-16 division followed by Adam Waddington.

Max Melvin-McNutt was first with Geoffroi Bourcier in second, and Patrick Barker in third in the 17 and under division.

In the over 15 category Miguel Rodden placed first followed by Anatole Tuzlack and Sebastien Berthiaume.

In under 14, Dylan Reed was first with Calahan Guidolin in second and Braden Burnett in third.
