Rich Potter’s wonder goal helped Yukon Brewing maintain their unbeaten run early in the new year as they tied Klondike Business Solutions 3-3 in Whitehorse Rapids Over-35s soccer action Saturday morning at the Canada Games Centre.

The Brew’s improvement has been due to the team pulling together and never giving up lost causes.

Gord Barker was again in the centre of this never-say-die spirit, as he scored two goals, and put himself around the pitch without disregard for his own personal health.

KBS are a class act, and they played their part in an enjoyable game for the watching fans, with Captain Fantastic Danny Macdonald getting a goal, a cheeky effort from Jason Steele with David Rayo rounding off the scoring for the boys in blue.

Potter’s goal came deep into the second half leaving Yukon Brew in comfort in the middle of the table, while KBS dropped points in their quest to reel in the league leaders Pepsi who had the bye week.

Yukon Brewing hasn’t lost since a Dec. 23 against Pepsi who will be their next opponent Jan. 27 after their upcoming bye week.

Pepsi is four points clear of KBS at the top of the table with an even number of games played. KBS will be looking to get back in the win column Saturday against Tony’s Pizza.

Yukon Info show their character

YukonInfo.com were on a hiding to nothing when they lined up against Tony’s Pizza, as they were without their talisman and inspirational leader Jan Aalt van den Hoorn and Big Ben Mercier.

But they fought hard and never gave up at any point, as they made Tony’s work for their 13-1 win.

Brain Bruckman and Ian Robinson battled hard but were sometime overrun by the quality of Tony’s play.

David Strachan in the Yukon Info net pulled off a number of great saves, as the white tide crashed down upon him.

Leonard Linklater scored the goal of the game for Yukon Info as his tremendously well hit free kick scorched the back of the net.

Justin Carre picked up six goals, Andy Todd (4), Guliano Rayo (2), and Jim Brown got the goals for Tony’s, as they prepare for a much harder outing against KBS in the second game Saturday with Pepsi taking on Yukon Info in the early game.
