Bargain hunters will be up early for the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club’s annual ski swap, taking place at the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre from 9 a.m. to noon.
Skis will be on sale, as well as snowboards, hockey gear, and much more. Residents are invited to drop off gear tonight and tomorrow night from 6 to 8 p.m.
Prices are set by owner, with $2 per tag and 20 per cent of all sales going to the club’s coffers.
Although there may not be snow on the ground, but ski club officials are still hard at work preparing for the upcoming winter season.
Memberships and season passes are now available online, with discounts available until month’s end.
The club hopes for more snow this season, in which they will host the Canadian championships in March.
At the club’s annual general meeting last week, Annah Hanthorn received the Monique Wattereus Award for 2015 as the junior skier who best represented the club nationally and internationally.
Wattereus was the first club skier to be named to the national junior team in the mid-’80s. The award was established in 1990.
In other news, the ski club has a new manager, with Miriam Lukszova taking over for Mike Gladish.
