The Polarettes and Polar Tumblers Gymnastics Club held their Arctic Winter Games Trials to decide the four young ladies that will compete at the Games in March.
The Polarettes and Polar Tumblers Gymnastics Club held their Arctic Winter Games Trials to decide the four young ladies that will compete at the Games in March.
The club announced on Sunday afternoon that they would be sending Mackenzie Davy, Lilyanne Gale, Fayne O'Donovan and Caitlyn Venasse.
"We are quite proud of all our athletes who competed,” said Jenn Ryan, head coach of the gymnastics club. "The competition went extremely well this weekend.”
Nine athletes competed for the four spots on the team, including seven girls and two boys.
Unfortunately for the two male competitors, there is no men's gymnastics at the Arctic Winter Games, so the talented Polar Tumblers will have to sit the Games out.
The athletes ranged from provincial level two to provincial level four gymnasts. To compete at the Arctic Winter Games, gymnasts must be at least level three.
The club was hosting a high-level judge for the weekend, who was conducting a judging clinic. The judge helped out by doing the judging for the Arctic Winter Games trials.
"We were extremely lucky,” Ryan said.
