The Dog Powered Sports Association of the Yukon held it’s fourth and final Hot Hound event of the summer Sunday. But not before raising $500 to be donated to the Mae Bachur Animal Shelter.

Prior to the races, the association hosted its annual poker run in which pet owners and their pets collected cards at different stations along a one-mile trail.

In the 1-Mile Bikejor race, Adam Robinson took first place in a time of five minutes and 50 second, or slightly more than two minutes faster than the time of 7:54 posted by second-place Armin Johnson. Liza Kozakewich was third in 8:22.

Alex Rochat won the 2-Mile Bikejor in a time of 10:13, though just 31 seconds separated first and third.

Robinson was second in 10:32 and Johnson was third in a time of 10:44.

In the 1-Mile Canicross, Kyle Lavore finished first with a time of 8:39 while Robinson finished in second 16 seconds back in a time of 8:55. Abel Semoussa and Gwenael Sinquin was tied for third with a time of 9:00.

The association is looking at the end of November or beginning of December for its first winter Twister event, depending on snow conditions. It’s also planning to host educational events and workshops during the fall.

In the poker run, Syvanna Schmidt had the best hand to win the $200 gift certificate from the All Paws Veterinary Clinic. Carol Foster collected the second best hand for the $200 Air North gift certificate while Jens Lippold, Girault Ombeline and Christina Reeves won the third, fourth and fifth prizes.
