CLOSE COMPETITION - Skiers start in the Yukon Championships Sunday. David Greer, with the National Ski team, 28, was the winner in the Open Male 15-km race.
Nearly 100 skiers took part in this year's Yukon Ski championships, held at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club.

The event was put over two days and featured classic technique races on Saturday, while skiers competed in a freestyle technique on Sunday.
"(The championships) went fantastic," said Chief of Race Allan Frostad.
"The kids really enjoyed the layout on Saturday.
We experimented with a new layout in the stadium for the start and finish area that incorporated a little bit more of the terrain in the stadium.
The little bumps and dips and things just to make it a little bit more interesting for them."
Skiers raced for bronze, silver and gold medals.
The Gordon Taylor Memorial Trophy was also awarded to the male and female skiers with the fastest combined times in the open category.
David Greer won the trophy for the male competition, while Brittany Smith won the award in the female category.
Some of the winners on Saturday included Ben Judah Hanthorn, who finished first in the Atom mixed 1-km race with a time of 0:05:01.8, while Benjamin Canning's time of 0:07:31 placed him first in the PeeWee boy's 2-km race.
Cayley Sparks finished first in the PeeWee girl's 2-km race with a time of 0:07:15.3.
David Greer won the open male 10-km race with a time of 0:32:54.8, while Brittany Smith's time of 0:28:04 placed her first in the Open Female 7.5-km race.
On Sunday, Greer was once again victorious in the open male category, winning the 15-km race with a time of 0:47:14, which was over two minutes faster than second place Colin Abbott.
Smith also won the open female category for a second straight day, finishing the 10-km race with a time of 0:34:45.
