Playoffs heat up in women's basketball league

Takhini Gas kicked off its Whitehorse Women's Basketball League with a close 59-54 OT win over Feature Foods.

Takhini Gas kicked off its Whitehorse Women's Basketball League with a close 59-54 OT win over Feature Foods.

Feature Foods battled back after trailing 31-18 by the half, but just fell short at the end.

The other game was between Kopper Kweens and Airport Chalet.


Takhini Gas 59, Feature Foods 54

Top scorers for Takhini Gas were Natalie Gonet, 15 points, and Marie Cairns, 14 points. Angela Ell led the way for Feature Foods, netting 24 points, while Alcina Banks finished with 13 points.


Airport Chalet 62, Kopper Kweens 45

Top scorers for Airport Chalet were Sarah Crane and Megan Freese.

Myranda Simpson scored 22 points for the Kopper Kweens, while Anne Jirousik put in 12 points.
