Physio Plus came out on top on Tuesday in a hotly contested U-15 Soccer League match against the Deli.
Gage Preece started in net for the Physio crew and was called on early to make some momentous saves, stopping Deli players Riley Andrew and Martin Seely.
The saves spurred his team on as Michael Hare pounced on a lose ball in the penalty area and drove the ball low past Owen Hedstrom-Langford, the Deli goalie.
The Physio side looked to have things in control until Riley Andrew was able to bend one in to the far corner past a diving Preece.
However, Ryan Burke was able to give Physio Plus another lead when he converted a broken corner kick play into a rising shot that deflected into the top corner.
The lead was short lived though as Andrew scored his second of the game just seconds before the half.
The second half resumed and within the first minute Burke netted his second goal of the game scored for Physio Plus. The ball was put in after he stepped over the half field line and sent a high and direct comet of a shot into gapping maw of the Deli's net.
Shortly after, Michael Hare completed a beautiful four way passing play that started with a clearing chip shot by Heather Clarke up the side to Austin Turner-Davis.
Turner-Davis then sent a shot over to Gage Preece who then saw set up a wide open Michael Hare. Hare fired then finished the play off, firing a one-timer into the back of the net.
With the score now at 4-2 for the Physio side they had numerous chances to put their team ahead for good but failed to convert. Emily Wilson had some great opportunities but just missed putting the ball in the net.
Turner-Davis also failed to score on a two on one and any sports fan will tell you some goals are more important than others and not scoring gave the Deli the opportunity they needed to get back in the game.
Martin Seely scored for the Deli and with the score now 4-3 for the Physio crew the Deli really pressured.
Thanks to the stalwart defence of Moya Austin and Eric Fekete the score stayed as it was until Heather Clarke took a bounce pass form Michael Hare and drove a waist high ball through a crowd into the net.
The goal stood to be the winner as Eugie Blackburn scored with three minutes to play but from then on the defence for Physio took control.
The MVP for the Deli was Aven Knutson and for Physio Plus was Emily Wilson.
