Dog mushing has been in full swing since the calendar turned over to 2021.

Dog mushing has been in full swing since the calendar turned over to 2021. This weekend, mushers and their dog teams will sled in the 2021 FirstMate Babe Southwick Memorial Race at the Ibex Valley. The following weekend, the Yukon Brewing Copper Haul League will resume. Finally, the Yukon Journey race from Pelly Crossing to Whitehorse will be ran beginning Feb. 24.

As with all dog mushing races, plenty of photos are taken but many aren't published because of space. These photos were taken during the 2021 Silver Sled ran at the end of January.

The race began at the old Bear Creek Lodge and mushers travelled 35 miles to Silver City on the shores of Kluane Lake before making the return journey the next day.

Our family lived at the Alcan Trailer Court in FT St. John, our neighbours were Len and Barb Southwick, we got to know most of the Southwick families, even in the 60's Babe was dog sledding, nice to see she is being remembered.
