Ten minutes worth of box time for both Air North and Kluane Drillers didn't prevent these teams from winning their Monday night encounters in rec hockey league action.
Air North/Cinderwood 8, Yukon Appliance 4
Chris Gleason's hat trick went a long way towards propelling Air North to victory over Yukon Appliance at Takhini Arena Monday night. Gleason's first marker gave Air North a 3-1 lead late in the first period, but Yukon Appliance rallied for three goals to take the lead, which they held until late in the second and final period.
But at 6:03, Gleason tied the game and his third goal, less than three minutes later, sealed the victory.
Joe Mason, Jay Glass and Kirk Gaie added empty net insurance goals for Air North in the final minute of play.
Kluane Drillers 9, Orc Tree Services 5
The game was a chippy affair in the first period with both teams spending a combined 14 minutes in the penalty box.
While the Drillers came out ahead in penalty minutes, it was all tied up at four-a-piece going into the second period. But the Drillers' Tyler Murray capped a hat trick early in the final frame, starting a rally Orc Tree Services could not fend off.
Tyler Hawkins, Shawn Horte, Craig Hampton and Rob Pitzel helped to run up the score for the Drillers while Jeremy Hookham was the only Orc Tree Services' player to answer back.
