Alexandra Gabor and Bronwyn Pasloski both missed out on a qualifying time for the Pan Pacific Championships, but they still have one more shot this summer.
Both girls were at the Pan Pacific Trials and Spring Nationals held in Montreal this past weekend representing the Whitehorse Glacier Bears, where many swimmers were behind the FINA qualifying times.
Gabor made three A finals and ended with a fifth place in the 200-metre freestyle.
She was also seventh in the 400-m free, 10th in the 100-m free and placed 23rd in the 50-m free.
Pasloski managed to get into one A final, finishing ninth in the 100-m breastroke. Her other finishes were 15th in the 50-m breast, 16th in the 200-m breast and 31st in the 200-m freestyle.
Pasloski was swimming next to world-record holder Annamay Pierse of Ontario in many of her events. Pierse holds the current world record in the 200-m breastroke with a time of 2:17.50.
Pasloski has her own record in the 200-m breast that she set in 2009. The swimmer earned the Glacier Bears Club record with a time of 2:31.57. She also holds the B.C. record for the 100-m breastroke with a time of 1:09.8.
Both Pasloski and Gabor were both shy of their personal best times, and will be back to training hard for the next Pan Pacific qualifier to be held from July 28th to 31st at the Summer Nationals in Victoria, B.C.
The Pan Pacific Championships will be held in Irvine, California in August.
Before they hit the pool at the Summer Nationals, both girls will have time to tune up at home during the Yukon Invitational swim meet, that is hosted by the Whitehorse Glacier Bears.
The meet will be held at the Canada Games Centre this month on the 23rd and 24th.
Teams from Juneau, Haines and Fairbanks will attend the meet, that will see all of Whitehorse's best swimmers take to the pool.
