Palahicky takes top honours in road race championships
Eighteen runners participated in the Athletics Yukon 10 km Road Race Championships on Saturday.
Eighteen runners participated in the Athletics Yukon 10 km Road Race Championships on Saturday.
Competitors raced in sunny, 20 C weather, with no significant wind. The fastest runner overall was William Palahicky, competing in the junior male category, with a time of 37 minutes and two seconds. The fastest female was Colleen Latham, competing in the open female category, with a time of 39:31.
Dave Cook of Ontario, California placed second in the masters men's category.
The course started and finished behind the Tourism Information Building on 2nd Avenue in downtown Whitehorse. It was an out and back course which ran along Schwatka Lake.
