Yukon Brewing goes from strength to strength

Yukon Brewing’s fantastic season continued Saturday with a comprehensive win over Pepsi in over 35’s soccer action.

The game was close early on when Danny Macdonald replied for Pepsi to cancel out the Brew’s opening goal, but when Guliano Rayo got his first of two goals there was no looking back for the men in black. Goals poured in after this without seemingly anything Pepsi could do about it; they valiantly stuck to their task but were no match for Yukon Brewing’s total soccer. Rayo was the architect of many of the attacking moves and with Irish enforcer Mark O’Brien in a hungry mood, there was no space or time for Pepsi to gain purchase in the game.

O’Brien scored again for Yukon Brewing to keep himself in contention for the golden boot, while on loan Andy Todd picked up two and an own goal rounded out a 6-1 victory which keeps the Brew sitting pretty on top of the league table.

Connely the engine in Driving Force

Ciaran Connely had a spectacular game for Driving Force, not only did he score a quite delightful goal; he was the driving force that his team could rally behind.

Driving Force have had a bad time of it lately but they played their game of the season, with every member of the team playing a part in securing an emphatic 7-2 win over Yukon Info.com. Connely was helped by goals from the mercurial Myles Dolphin (two), James Wigmore, Nathan Cross, Phil Jackson and a wonder strike by goalie Stephen Doyle when he caught his opposing number out of position and lobbed the ball two-thirds of the pitch into the goal to clinch the game.

This result is a real body blow for Yukon Info as they had been flying lately. Although they were missing a couple of key players, they did, however, get a couple of goals in consolation through George ‘no shot clock’ Maratos and Oscar Rodriguez.

Is there a league older than these geezers or is this the old-timers league?
