Guest player Dave Black

Black is the new Brown

Guest player Dave Black replaced Jim Brown this week and inspired Klondike Business Solutions to an 11-4 win over Pepsi in over 35’s soccer action.

Black, who has been petrifying opposing defences for over 40 years, showed why he is still a player every captain wants on their team, with three goals and a handful of assists in a great all-around display.

KBS won based on a solid rearguard led by John MacPhail, and assisted by Keith Welch, and Gareth Howells. This enabled spaces in the Pepsi midfield to open up and was exploited harshly by Travis Schommer, Larry White and Andy Todd (five goals).

Charles Mcleod had an excellent game between the sticks rounding off a good team performance by the boys in blue.

Managing to breach KBS defences for Pepsi were Danny Macdonald (3) and Justin Ferby.

Yukon Brewing taste the bitter pill of defeat

Yukon Brewing was beaten for the first time this season, with the powerful Tony’s Pizza team gaining the win 5-2.

Tony’s Pizza seems to have no weaknesses with skipper Keith Maguire and Jan Aalt Van Den Hoorn soaking up the pressure in defence, Ben Mercier and Gord Barker providing bite and guile in the midfield with the irrepressible Mamadou Togola and Adil Khalik scoring the goals.

The other squad members played well as a unit leaving no respite for the opposition.

This week Mamadou got three with Rob Florkiewicz and Gord Barker getting the others.

Yukon Brew battled bravely and never gave up but their luck was out.

Guiliano Rayo got a couple of goals in reply.

Over 35s? That's old timers isn't it?
