Jackson guides team in Thriller
This weekend’s over 35’s soccer Halloween classic produced a game to remember, as Pepsi and Yukon Brewing played out a 5-5 tie at the Canada Games Centre.
Pepsi skipper Phil Jackson, looking like the walking dead, dragged his side out of the coffin position with a goal and a stirring performance reminiscent of his golden years as he urged his side on.
Jackson was helped by the effervescent Danny “Uncle Fester” Macdonald, who grabbed four goals, as he continued his rich vein of form this season.
On the other side, Guiliano Rayo of Yukon Brewing, who was sporting a fetching werewolf beard, netted three times for the men in black, as he produced a high quality performance to counter for the Brew. Jeff ‘Frankenstein’ Ford (2) assisted Rayo well, getting the other goals.
Horror show for KBS
Klondike Business Solutions had a game to forget, going down 5-0 to Tony’s Pizza in the early match.
Even though KBS dominated possession, they could not string together three straight passes and looked like they had put their shoes on the wrong feet, as shots flew everywhere except towards the goal.
For Tony’s Pizza, Jan Aalt van den Hoorn played as an emergency keeper and had an excellent game, sweeping up the loose ball and turning defense into attack in the blink of an eye, then scoring a goal when he broke from his own end to top off a sterling performance.
Other scorers for Tony’s Pizza were Mamadou Togola, Eric Murphy and Ben Mercier, with Joe Morrison having a great game in defense.
