Tennis Yukon crowned its victors as the past month’s Yukon Championships wrapped up this week.

Laurie Drummond and Marisa Johnson picked up the ladies doubles title last week.

Ewan Halliday repeated as the men’s singles champion with his win over Matthias Hoenisch last Friday. (See Aug. 28 coverage.)

Kieran Bertsch and Carly Bohman picked up the final title in the men’s/mixed doubles division Monday night.

Whitehorse’s Lawrence Ignace is the most recent triathlete to hear himself called an Ironman as he crossed the finish line at Coeur d’Alene’s Ironman triathlon in Idaho.

The 45-year-old finished the long-distance race in 14 hours eight minutes and 34 seconds to finish 62nd in his division.

Ignace completed the 2.4-mile swim in 1:26:13, the 112-mile bike in 6:22:59 and the 26.2-mile run – marathon- distance – in 5:59:35. His run time was the 10th fastest in his division.

This is the final year that the Ironman-distance race will be held in Coeur d’Alene.

Earlier in the summer, a contingent of Yukoners attended the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 race in Whistler, B.C. (See Aug. 3 coverage.)
