Forty-eight keen orienteers ran through the colourful, berry-filled forest below Grey Mountain during the last meet of the season Wednesday night.

The orienteers searched for controls whose faded colours matched the autumn leaves.

Ross Burnett and Pippa McNeil again led the advanced classes; Ken Kiemele edged Deb Kiemele on the intermediate course; and young Elias Sagar blazed around the novice course with the fastest time of all, followed nearly 10 minutes later by Dyllis Ranson and Maura Glenn with a time of 23.17.

Picking low-bush cranberries delayed much of the competition.

The next Yukon orienteering race will likely be on skis, next February.
