The Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League has a few more games before Christmas, when they will break for the holidays.

"The league pretty much runs itself,” said league president Bernie Adilman.

After the first half of the season, Medicine Chest is leading the league, followed closely by Yukon Inn and the Performance Centre.

Scoring is tied by Wayne Crowe from Klondyke Dental, Ross Phillips of the Performance Centre Turbos and Adam Green with 17 goals, however Crowe gets the edge for having 30 points overall over Phillip's 28 and Green's 27.

But even though the scores are recorded, the league is all about getting out and just playing a good game of hockey.

"The guys are out there to have fun,” said Adilman.

Adilman, who plays for fourth ranked Firth, said his team has been improving recently, after they kicked off the season with few goals.

"We're hot,” he said. "We've been playing very well lately.”

The goals have picked up for Firth, sending them to their fourth spot in the standings.

"We've got two to three skilled guys, but the rest of us are a bunch of pluggers,” Adilman joked.

The statistics show that the league's topper could easily change, with the top teams holding their spots by only a few points each, and Adilman said that makes the games all the more fun.

"It's very even, and that's what makes our league so good,” said Adilman.

Already the league president is looking forward to their annual March tournament, that will take place this year from March 5th to 7th.

There are four more games to go for the Oldtimers next week before they put down their sticks for Christmas. Medicine Chest will take on the Yukon Inn on Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m., followed by AON facing off against the Performance Centre Turbos at 9 p.m. On Wednesday, Kilrich will play Edgewater at 8:15 p.m. and at 9:45 p.m. Klondyke Dental will play Firth.

All games will be played at Takhini Arena.

Games will resume Jan. 6.
