Two tight games highlighted Junior Circuit action in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey Thursday night at Takhini. Yukon Inn edged Kilrich 5-4 in a chippy affair; and the Firth Rangers edged CapriCMW 6-4 with an empty-netter in the other match.

Walt Liley and Tyson Wirth each netted two for the Innkeepers, and Shawn Kinsella potted the other. For Kilrich, it was Chris Nash (who walked brother Colin!) Brian Currie, Myles Dolphin and Ben Mercier with goals.

Firth jumped out to a 3-0 lead in their game and withstood a late Capri rally for the win. Dustin Heffner drilled home a pair for Firth, and one each came off the sticks of Gerry Brandt, Mike Gau, Greg Charlie and Caleb Tomlinson. Capri markers came from Kevin Johnstone with two, and Blayne Monahan and Mike Smith with one apiece.

Senior game results Wednesday caused a further tightening of second, third and fourth positions in the standings.

After Wednesday action, Medicine Chest, EDI and Air North are now separated by only two points with three games left in the regular season.

Medicine Chest scored a controversial goal with 11 seconds left in the game that withstood a video review in their 3-3 tie with Tim Hortons. Al Hansen deftly deflected what appeared to be a high puck into the Tims twine to table the tie. Pete Mostyn responded with the other two for the Chest. Ron Daub, who not surprisingly passed through waivers unclaimed last week, netted two for Tims, and Lorne Burnett score the other on a seven-hopper.

Darryl Cann posted another shutout for Air North as they grounded EDI 7-0. Dave ‘Henri’ Wipf and Doug Cote led the fliers with two goals each, and singles came from Steve Arrell, Adam Green and Carl Cibart.
