Northwestel takes Thursday squash league title over Whitehorse Travel

It came down to the wire, as Northwestel High Speed Internet downed Whitehorse Travel 15-14 in the final and walked away the 2006 Thursday Night Squash League champions.

It came down to the wire, as Northwestel High Speed Internet downed Whitehorse Travel 15-14 in the final and walked away the 2006 Thursday Night Squash League champions.

Well Read Books bounced Kumon Learning 19-10 for third place overall.

Winning their matches for Northwestel were Shaun Stinson and Mark Beese.

Stinson swept Whitehorse Travel's Trevor Mead-Robins in three games while Beese whipped Lesley Cabott in three straight.

Dallas Yeulett and Beth Ellis replied for the travel crew.

Yeulett needed five games to beat Logan Small, who was filling in for Cameron Trayner, while Ellis got rid of Tracy Pittman in three straight.

Chris Ziegler, Tara Matechuk and Eric Irvine were victorious for Well Read.

Ziegler sent Kumon's Lara Lewis home in three straight games while Matechuk ousted Shannon Tessier in four. Irvine downed Judy Ratcliffe in three straight.

Rachelle Zrall was the lone victor for Kumon. Zrall swept Alan McDermott in three games.

The awards for the Thursday Night Squash League were handed out last Friday.
