Northwestel picks up 20, remains in first

Northwestel High Speed Internet was the top team this week in Thursday Night Squash League action, picking up 20 points for a total of 134.

Northwestel High Speed Internet was the top team this week in Thursday Night Squash League action, picking up 20 points for a total of 134.

That total gives Northwestel a hefty first-place lead in the overall standings.

Whitehorse Travel also had a strong week and jumped to second spot, grabbing 20 points for a total of 118. Well Read Books is close behind, collecting 19 points for a total of 117.

Rounding out the top four is Kumon Learning, which took home just 13 points for a total of 114 and fell from second place.

Northern Lights also claimed 13 points for a total of 106, which is good enough for fifth overall. Sterling Insurance picked up just nine points for a total of 94.

The High Country Inn remains in the basement with 72 points. The Inn had the bye this week.

Winning their matches for Northwestel were Shaun Stinson, Mark Beese and Tracy Pittman.

Stinson needed five games to beat Sterling's Adam MacCannell while Beese swept Jessica Borgford, who was filling in for Therese Aberson, in three. Pittman ousted Patti Flather in four games.

Cory Morris won the lone match for Steling. Morris, who was subbing for Shauna Tompkins, defeated Cameron Trayner in four games.

Trevor Mead-Robins, Beth Ellis and Dallas Yeulett were victorious for Whitehorse Travel.

Mead-Robins fought Northern Lights' Matt Brown for five games before emerging with the win while Ellis whipped Jen Meurer in three straight. Yeulett beat Al Ohlin in five games.

Karen Clyde was the lone victor for Northern Lights. Clyde took care of Lesley Cabott in four games.

Chris Ziegler, Shauna Grant and Eric Irvine picked up the big points for Well Read.

Ziegler swept Kumon's Lara Lewis in three games while Grant, who was filling in for Aiza Gomez, sent Shannon Tessier home in five. Irvine defeated Judy Ratcliffe in five games.

Rachelle Zrall won the lone match for Kumon Learning . Zrall ousted Alan McDermott in four games.
