The 2014 Summer 9-Ball League wrapped up on Wednesday night.
Prizes for the top players in average and points were awarded followed by a fun evening of Scotch Doubles team play at Porter Creek Billiards.
Taking home top spot in the points ranking was the ageless veteran Ed Lepp who just edged out perennial bridesmaid Dave Griffiths.
Top ranking in player’s average went to Rob Sinclair followed by Ed Lepp with third going to newcomer Himanshu Thapar.
Once these formalities were dispensed with the Scotch Doubles tourney ensued. Team players’ names were drawn for and most sadly resigned themselves to the also-ran category when top player Rob Sinclair drew defending nine-ball champion Alex Grabowski as his partner.
In the end they steamrolled most of the field and won the evening but not before a spirited challenge from runners-up Oliver Robitaille and Irv Melancon.
There will be a brief two-week “off-season” to allow players to recover and heal up those nagging pool injuries before the start of the winter league.
Players of all ages and abilities are invited to play. Winter league starts Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
