Mustangs double up on Yukon Inn Boiler Room in rec hockey game

Bantam Mustang netminder, Patrick Soprovich made 20 saves Friday in the Whitehorse Recreational Hockey League's B division to help his team to a 6-3 win over Yukon Inn Boiler Room.

Bantam Mustang netminder, Patrick Soprovich made 20 saves Friday in the Whitehorse Recreational Hockey League's B division to help his team to a 6-3 win over Yukon Inn Boiler Room.

The Mustangs never trailed in the contest and enjoyed a four goal second frame to secure the victory.


Bantam Mustangs 6, Yukon Inn Boiler Room 3

Gibson Pearson led the way in scoring for the Mustangs, notching two goals, while Mike Arnold also had a great game, finishing with one goal and one assist.

Other scorers on the team included Gage Preece, Tyson Glass and Davaughn Davies.

Adam George, Will Beckett and Simon Sheridan all scored for Yukon Inn Boiler Room.


Roadhouse 12, Air North/Cinderwood 10

Matt Horsey had an incredible six point game for Roadhouse Friday in the A division, scoring four goals and adding two assists.

Ryan Hodgins finished with a hat trick for Roadhouse and Troy Cairns scored twice in the win.

Other Roadhouse goal scorers included Currie Dixon, Andrew Sprokkreeff and Darren VanLangen.

Jamie Cairas also helped out Roadhouse's cause, contributing three assists.

Darrell Sturko and Wes Marsh each scored twice for Air North/Cinderwood, while Nigel Cripps Ryan Gleason, Chris Gleason, Greg Charlie, Darius Elias and Frank Sucoin also scored.

Boston Pizza/Matco 8, Midget Mustangs 1

Boston Pizza got off to a great start in its A divisional game against the Midget Mustangs on Sunday game and took a commanding 5-1 lead into the second period, before adding three more in the final 22 minutes.

Trevor Twardochleb led all scorers for Boston Pizza with two goals and two assists, while Dave Pearson and Lance Brown each finished with two goals and one assist.

Other goal scorers on the team included Randy Merkel and Bryan Curial, while Derek Johnstone had a productive game, chipping in three assists.

Riley Tobin scored the lone goal for the Mustangs and Jaxon Glass was credited with an assist.
