A hair under 50 runners took part in the Mount Lorne Mis-Adventure 5 and 21 Kilometre Run on Sunday.
A hair under 50 runners took part in the Mount Lorne Mis-Adventure 5 and 21 Kilometre Run on Sunday.
While the trail run begin on relatively flat, friendly ground around the Annie Lake Golf Course that ends up paralleling Bear Creek, runners were soon faced with a killer climb, and then rolling and more challenging terrain.
Of the 10 runners who completed the men’s 21-km event, Brendon Morphet dominated the field in a time of one hour, 19 minutes and 36 seconds.
Morphet finished almost 10 minutes ahead of second-place Boris Hoefs. Hoefs crossed the line in 1:29:15.
Arno Barre finished third in the men’s 21-km in a time of 1:33:03 while Rick Brown was fourth in 1:34:52.
In the women’s 21-km, Maura Sullivan led the field of 18 competitors with her time of 1:37:28, or two and a half minutes ahead of second-place Amy Kenny who clocked in at time of 1:39:57.
Sue Bogle was third in 1:43:56 and Virginia Sarrazin rounded out the top four with a time of 1:49:02.
Among the 10 women in the 5-km run, Gemma Hosford burned around the course in 25 minutes and 21 seconds, or more than nine minutes ahead of second-place Kira Marten who finished in 34:37. Emily Baxter and Avery Kinsella crossed the line together in third less than a minute back of Marten, with a time of 35:15 and Lydia Brown finished next in 35:59.
Forest Pearson led the field of 10 men in the 5-km event with a time of 20:03, almost four minutes ahead of second-place Louis Mouchet and Nicholas Robles. Mouchet and Robles crossed the line together in at 24:03 followed by Matt Hosford in 25:21 and Felix Masson in 25:23.
