The Whitehorse Curling Club, along with the Yukon Curling Association, will play host to the Yukon/N.W.T. mixed championship starting today.

The individual draw times, results and team members are listed on the Yukon Curling Association website at www.yukoncurling.ca. Updates are available all weekend long.

The Scoffin and Balsam rinks from the Whitehorse Curling Club are no strangers to this level of competition and are ready to take on the Northwest Territories' Kaeser and Sittichinli, who hail from Fort Smith and Inuvik respectively, in double round-robin play which gets underway at 7 p.m. today.

Opening cermonies, with a City of Whitehorse representative and Yukon Curling Association past-president Karen Mahoney, will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Draws continue on Friday at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and Sunday at 9 a.m. Tie-breakers will take place after 2 p.m. Sunday, if needed.

The winning team from this championship goes on to represent the territories at the 2008 mixed nationals next November at a Canadian club still to be determined.

Team Balsam, Yukon number one, is skipped by Herbert Balsam and includes third Corinne Delaire, second Mike Menzies and lead Frances Taylor.

The Wade Scoffin rink, Yukon number two, includes third Nicole Baldwin, second James Buyck and lead Helen Strong.

Nick Kaeser will skip N.W.T. number one, along with third Sandy Poitras, second Darryl McArthur and lead Patty Hartlen.

The number two N.W.T. team, skipped by Mel Sittichinli, is a new team that includes third Gloria Allen, second Nick Saturnino and lead Diane Baxter.
