A total of 44 teams with players ranging in age from six to 15 engaged in some friendly competition at the 2014 Yukon

Championships.

Eight teams from the communities also participated, adding to the excitement for local players.

Dawson City sent four teams, while Mayo and Haines Junction each had two compete in the annual territorial playdowns.

The Sphinx Orthodontics defeated Impact Well Drilling 3-1 to win the Under-15 championship.

In the Under-13 final, All Terrane Mineral Exploration defeated Coates Services 4-2 to win gold.

The Deli beat Boston Pizza 6-1 to take bronze.

Yukon Outfitters outscored La Bicicletta 5-1 to win the Under-11 championship.

In the third-place game, Rastus Maxfield provided the heroics, scoring the winner in penalty kicks to lead The Deli 2 over the Wolverines 5-4.

In the Under-9 division, it was Sportslife who took gold, 7-2 over Creative Works Psychological Services.

Tim Hortons beat Eagle Construction 6-2 to win bronze.

Finally, in Under-7 action, Whitehorse Elks Lodge defeated The Electrical Shop 3-2 in overtime to cap a thrilling gold-medal final.

Builders Supplyland beat Locksmith Services 6-4 to claim the bronze medal.
