The only downside for players on Medicine Chest in Thursday's hockey game against Performance Centre Turbos came with less than two minutes remaining on the clock.

With the score 5-0 and Medicine Chest well on their way to victory, Bernie Adilman notched the Turbos lone goal and ended what was nearly a 43 minute shutout streak from goaltender Glen Traverse.

Other than that one goal, Medicine Chest pretty much played the perfect game and received near perfect goaltending from Traverse. The team is currently in first place in the Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League.

"I think the difference was we capitalized and Glen made some nice saves," said Medicine Chest defenceman Dennis Connelly. "He does that regularly, makes a couple of big saves and it allows us to get that kind of safety goal."

Medicine Chest got the ball rolling early on in the contest, thanks to a goal by Greg Bull. Bull got his team on the board when he sent the puck into the back of the net at 16:49.

Medicine Chest went back to work not long after and at 12:32 Connelly chipped in his squad's second of the contest, which was assisted by Ross Phillips.

Players on the Turbos did everything they could to get back into the game and sent more than a few difficult shots at Traverse. The end result, however, was a couple of highlight reel saves from the Medicine Chest netminder.

Medicine Chest made the most of its opportunities and with less than five minutes to go in the first period increased the lead to 3-0.

Phillips was in perfect position to score the goal and shoveled the puck into the net after Turbos goalie Jeff Kalles made the initial save.

Medicine Chest didn't let up a bit and scored once again in the first few minutes of the second frame. The shot, taken by Dave Bakica, eluded the glove hand of Kalles.

The team added its fifth and final goal a little more than 10 minutest later. Ken Vickerman scored unassisted.

Players on the Turbos still had plenty to play for and Adilman received a few cheers from the bench for his goal at 1:03.

Yukon Inn 3, AON Flames 2

Kevin Neufeld increased Yukon Inn's lead to 3-1 in the final 10 minutes of Thursday's game. A Flames goal by Scott Lowery was as close as the team got to drawing even.

Other Yukon Inn scorers included Lester Balsillie and Doug Janzen, while Wade Harrison netted the remaining AON goal.

Firth Rangers 2, Kilrich 2

Sean McLeish and Ed van Randen scored the two goals for the Rangers.

Stu Mackay chipped in one assist in the tie.

Roger Lockwood and Mike Blower scored for Kilrich, while Bob Allison, Daryl Berube and John Skilnyk each contributed on assist.

Edgewater Hotel 3, Klondyke Dental Molars 3

Brent Cooper led the way in scoring for Edgewater, finishing with two goals, while Robert McLeod scored once.

Scorers on the Molars were Laurie Malo, Les Luciak and Mike Kenny.

Morley Lessard, Roger Hewlett, Gary Vantell and Dean Klassen each finished with one assist for the Hotel.
