Going 3-0 for the entire weekend, Maxxam Analytics swept to their first tournament win of the slo-pitch season on Sunday.

“We had a tight first game that we had to come back and win and I think it brought the whole team together,” said Maxxam Analytics player Alejandro Pulido. “From there it was smooth sailing.”

Maxxam Analytics met the Money Ballers in the Division 3-B final Sunday afternoon. They had met in the second game Saturday night.

Maxxam Analytics won that game handily, mercying the Money Ballers after five innings.

“It was a brutal game,” said Money Baller’s Theo Richards.

He said their Saturday night game was probably their worst of the season.

“We knew we could bounce back and we started this morning with a big win, not even allowing any runs,” said Richards.

The Money Ballers started off slow, scoring no runs in the first and only three in the second.

Maxxam Analytics however had one high scoring inning in the second with nine runs, to go along with their three from the first and just kept nickle and diming for the rest of the game. They added two in the third, and one each in innings four through six.

After that high scoring second inning, the Money Ballers couldn’t do enough to catch up. They lost 17-12.

“We had a couple errors here and there, but that’s going to happen,” said Richards.

After scoring only one run in their first match-up against Maxxam Analytics, the Money Ballers refocused for the final.

“We knew we could bounce back,” said Richards. “We came out here today and I think put up 11 or 12 and that’s a lot better. We can play with those guys. They got the better of us today.”

Maxxam Analytics win was not without its hiccups. The new team is still working on its communication.

A collision in the outfield and a few marred passes had the team talking more.

“Communication is going to get better and better,” said Pulido. “We’ve already improved from our first game so we’re just going to go forward from here.”
