Spring-like weather attracted a record field for the 22nd annual Marsh Lake Loppet.

There were 235 participants registered, up by 60 over last year’s event.

And for the first time, the event included a fat bike category.

David Greer was awarded the Elizabeth Sheardown award as the fastest male in the 20-kilometre division, finishing in a time of 58 minutes and 12 seconds.

Sara Nielsen was given the Sheardown award as the fastest female, completing the 20 kilometres in a time of 1:17:47.

The Captain Fun Award in honour of Peter Milner was given to Kate Alexander and Rowan Wallace was the recognized at the youngest skier, aged two years and two months.

“This was one of our biggest lopes ever,” saie Wendy Morrison, chief of the race. “It was great day full of fun, fast skiers and enthusiasm. We can’t wait for next year!”
