Registration opened last Friday evening. Pick up your forms and get yourself registered for one of the Yukon's best-loved ski races….the Marsh Lake Classic Cross-Country Ski Loppet. Thanks to our tiny but dedicated trail crew the Marsh Lake ski trails are looking fabulous, and we’re looking forward to sharing them with you.

The Marsh Lake Classic is a favourite of Yukon skiers both for the excellent trails and for the hospitality of the community. It caters especially to families and the recreational skier but also attracts Yukon’s best competitors. The outdoor rink will also be ready and waiting, weather permitting, and there’ll be lots of goodies and hot food on offer again this year.

This race is dedicated to the late Peter Milner, and every year we designate a Peter Milner Captain Fun award for best spirit. We encourage people to dress up in costume –the ski’s the limit at this year’s race.

So many people help out with the race and a lot of the volunteers and skiers get dressed up. It’s an exciting day, with lots of great energy.

We couldn’t pull off such a successful event without the people that come to help out both before…such as our bakers, cooks, and trail crew, and during the race. And our sponsors…we are so thankful to the generous Yukon businesses who donate both financially and toward some amazing draw prizes.

The Marsh Lake Classic 2020 takes place Saturday, February 8th next to the Marsh Lake Community Centre, 80 Doehle Drive, Judas Creek, on Bob Lake. Race times are 1 p.m. for the 10 and 20 km races and 1:15 and 1:30 p.m. for kids’ races.

Come on out and ski the race, or cheer on your favourite racer, enjoy some snacks, beverages and some of the great hot food our volunteers have cooked up. There is face painting and indoor games in the gym for the little ones.

Registration forms are available at Coast Mountain Sports, Icycle Sport and the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club at Mt Mac. They are also available at the community centre in Marsh Lake.

Deadline to register (with payment) is Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. The race will be held on Feb. 8.
