Mark Tubman wins 'A' division at Yukon squash tournament

There was no shortage of competition at this year's Squash Yukon open Squash Tournament hosted at the Better Bodies Cross Training Centre.

There was no shortage of competition at this year's Squash Yukon open Squash Tournament hosted at the Better Bodies Cross Training Centre.

The tournament was sponsored by Air North, which awarded a flight ticket as the door prize. Tara Marchuk was the winner of the Air North tickets.

Mark Tubman was the big winner in the men's 'A' division, beating Phil Jackson in a five game marathon.

Tubman saved his best game for last, winning 9-1 to earn the 'A' divisional title.


Men's 'A' Division

First place: Mark Tubman

Second place: Phil Jackson (9-5, 7-9, 5-9, 9-3, 9-1)

Third place: Chris Cullingham

Fourth place: Chris Toleman (4-9, 2-9, 9-3, 9-0, 9-3)


Open 'B' Division

First place: Lia Johnson

Second place: Lori Muir (9-3, 7-9, 9-6, 9-4)

Third place: Peter Mathur

Fourth place: Michel Gelinas (injured)

Consolation: Chris Ziegler over Gord Starko (9-3, 8-10, 6-9, 9-5, 10-8)


Open 'C' Division

First place: Trevor Mead-Robins

Second place: Doug Thorseth (9-6, 9-5, 8-10, 9-0)

Third place: Stephen Grundmanis

Fourth place: Sophia Falther (9-4, 9-6, 6-9, 9-4)

Consolation: Kai Knorr over Lara Trotter (9-7, 10-8, 9-7)


Men's 'D' Division (Round Robin)

First place: Will Parker

Second place: Joel Brennan


Women's Novice Division (Round Robin)

First place: Kelly Panchyshyn

Second place: Alexis Hougen
