Luke Carlos, Anette Kralisch record fastest times in 10-km championship run

Luke Carlos posted the fastest overall time Tuesday evening to win the Athletics Yukon’s 10-kilometre championship.

Luke Carlos posted the fastest overall time Tuesday evening to win the Athletics Yukon’s 10-kilometre championship.

Anette Kralisch was the fastest woman.

Nineteen runners took part.

Carlos ran the Riverdale course in 38 minutes and 48 seconds, just shy of three minutes ahead of Steve Roddick’s time of 41:22. Enab Alhag Hussen was a close third, finishing 13 seconds behind Roddick.

Scott Williams was the fourth man across the finish line with a time of 43:14.

Kralisch completed the two laps of the regular Tuesday night 5-km course in a time of 43:27, more than four minutes faster than Janet Clarke’s second-place time of 47:43.

Cynthia Freeman was in third with a time of 50:13 and Laura Salmon was the fourth fastest woman with a time of 51:50.

Runners ranged in age from a young teenager to a couple of masters running in the 55-to 59-year-old class.

Lisa Freeman, running in the midget 14/15 class, was the only runner under 20. She completed the 10 kilometres in a time of 1:01:02.

The most senior woman, Karin Keeley-Erickson (55-59), finished in 1:08:18.

The most senior man, John Storms (55-59), walked the course in a time of 1:03:06.
