Seven local athletes competed in the Jesters PNW Junior Squash Tournament in Victoria this past weekend.

Mustafa Syed, Stephen Grundmanis, Kai Knorr and Zain Syed all competed in the main section of the tournament, which yielded some of the top players in Canada.

The athletes faced intense competition and played well but were unable to come away with any victories.

Syed, 14, is ranked 22nd in Canada in U15 division and faced one of the top players in the nation in Andrew Wei.

Syed lost to Wei in the consolation semi-finals.

Competing in the B-Section of the tournament, Logan Harris, 13, won the boys U15 B draw with impressive 3-0 victories.

Harris will be competing in the main section in his next Outside tournament.

Shermaine Chua, 15, placed third in the girl's U19 B draw losing two close matches.

Her opponents went on to be the top two players in the round robin pool.

Twelve-year-old Alysha Gullison, playing in her first Outside tournament, lost in the consolation finals of the Girl's U13 Novice draw.

Each of the players performed well and are looking forward to their next competitive matches.
