Local player wins tournament award
The results are in.
The results are in. Host team’s Dave’s Cleaning Crew’s Mike Arnold was awarded the Top Defensive Player for the men’s tournament on Friday.
Arnold went error-free over the Crew’s eight round-robin games. They went 1-7, but did not advance to the playoffs.
Arnold also led the Crew offensively, finishing 15th overall in the tournament statistics with a .741 batting average. He had 16 runs, three home runs, and 10 RBIs over the tournament.
Saskatchewan’s Dana Dirks picked up the round-robin MVP award with two game-winning walk-off home runs and tied for the top batting average with .833.
B.C. BusDrivers’ Jeff Andrews, who also had a top batting average of .833, was named Top Hitter with 22 RBIs.
On the women’s side, Melissa Holder of the Ontario Miken Freaks had a batting average of .850 to take Top Hitter.
Kait Anseeuw from the 2015 winning team, the Miken HR Ladybirds, was named tournament MVP with 43 RBIs over eight games, including 12 home runs. Manitoba Wild’s Paige Smith was awarded Top Defensive Player.
