Leef top runner in annual Law Day charity run

The 16th annual Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk took place in Whitehorse Tuesday afternoon.

The 16th annual Law Day Charity Fun Run and Walk took place in Whitehorse Tuesday afternoon.

The event, organized by the Canadian Bar Association - Yukon Branch, began at the Law Courts on 2nd Avenue and spanned 6.4 kilometres.

Organizers said the new route around the Millenium Trial proved to be popular, even though it meant another 10-20 minutes out of the lunch hour to complete it.

They had some of the fastest runners in town show up and post lightening speeds.

This year, with Tom Ullyett and Dan Shier not competing, the fastest male lawyer was Zeb Brown.

Unfortunately, no female lawyers took part this year. Tanya Astika and Helen Stappers are married to lawyers, so that might count for something.

Money raised from the event went to the Youth of Today Society.

Organizers would like to thank the many sponsors for their continued support. Tim Hortons was extra generous with the donuts this year, providing dozens and dozens to the race.
