League leaders lose in close contests Sunday

The two top teams in the Whitehorse Oldtimer Hockey League both lost Sunday night, leaving Medicine Chest still ahead of the second-place Firth Rangers.

The two top teams in the Whitehorse Oldtimer Hockey League both lost Sunday night, leaving Medicine Chest still ahead of the second-place Firth Rangers.

The Klondyke Dental Molars – hot of late – continued their move up the ladder with a 3-2 victory over the Chest while Yukon Inn shutout the Rangers 2-0.

Gary Vantell and Grant Lyons each scored once for the Inn on assists from Dennis Connelly, John Periera and Blaine Demchuk while Jeff Kalles recorded the shutout.

Klondyke Dental Molars 3, Medicine Chest 2

Dean Klassen, Jeff Jensen and Ron Servatius score the Molars. Servatius added an assist and Steve Reynolds notched two helpers.

Stu Mackay replied for Medicine Chest on assists from Pete McPeake and Ken Vickerman while Pat Campbell scored the only other goal, unassisted.

AON Flames 4, Edgewater Hotel 1

Doug Harris led the Flames offence with a goal and a pair of assists. Russ Bamford, Bill Watson and Wade Harrison added singles.

Ron Limoges and Mike L'Henaff recorded assists for the Flames.

Performance Centre Turbos 3, Kilrich 3

Jason Cunning scored twice for the Turbos while Ross Phillips scored once. Scott Casselman contributed two assists and single helpers were recorded by Sean McAskie, Dave Bakica and Mike Blower.

Gary Boyd led the Kilrich offence with two goals and Ted Hupe scored once. Jim Giczi added two assists while Peter Grundmani, Bruce Williams and Bill Bohmer added assists.

Medicine Chest 1, Performance Centre Turbos 1

Pat Campbell scored for Medicine Chest on an assist from Dean MacKay while Scott Casselman scored for the Turbos on a pass from Mike Blower.

AON Flames 4, Yukon Inn 2

Wade Harrison led the Flames to victory, as he factored into each of the club's four markers with two goals and two assists.

Teammates Bruce Demchuk and Steve Arrell each scored once with Arrell adding an assist. Tony Clennett recorded two assists for the Flames

John Periera scored for Yukon Inn on an assist from Tom Ullyett and Grant Lyons buried one on a pass from Wayne Kazakoff.
