Lafrance edges Macdonald for golden boot title

The regular season came to an end with the final round of matches in over-35 soccer action last weekend.

In the early game, Quest Computers got their first win of the season over Yukon Brewing 5-3.

Danny Macdonald led the charge with three goals, while Steve Insley and Jeremy Norton getting the others for Quest.

Kurt Bringsci (2) and a Bob Baxter screamer were only a consolation for Brew.

The late game saw Pepsi beat Klondike Business Solutions 4-1.

Pepsi’s goals came from George Maratos, Ken Liao, Pat Shaw and Armand Daneliuc with Pierre-Luc Lafrance replying for KBS.

Pepsi won the regular season title, finishing with a record of 6-7-4, while Yukon Brewing and Quest Computers finished tied for second with identical records

of 6-6-4.

KBS was 5-7-4 to bring up the rear, revealing the league’s parity.

Individually, Lafrance scored 20 regular season goals to claim the golden boot title.

Following him were Macdonald (19), Chris Donohoe (12), Joel Edgecombe (11) and Andy Todd (10).

The league now moves on to a three-week playoff.
