Kumon to take on Whitehorse Travel in semis; Electrical and Sterling will face off

The semifinals are set in Thursday Night Squash League action, after the final week of regulation play.

Kumon Learning picked up 16 points and easily clinched top spot with a total of 335, while Electrical Shop finished second overall with a total of 285 points, after claiming 14 points this week. Sterling Insurance and Whitehorse Travel both ended up with a total of 254 points, collecting 16 and 14 respectively.

Sterling wins the tiebreaker and will head into next week's semifinals ranked third, and will have to beat Electrical Shop to advance to the final. Kumon will try to oust Whitehorse Travel in the semis.

Well Read Books had the bye this week and finished the season with a total of 247 points, which was good enough for fifth place. Northern Lights had a strong final week, grabbing 19 points for a total of 240, and sits sixth. Those two teams will play each other next week to determine final ranking.

Navigo Broadband took home just eight points for a total of 216 and will not participate in the playoff action.

Winning their matches for Kumon were Jeanette Carney and Stephen Grundmanis. Carney swept Sterling's Shari Thomson in three games while Grundmanis, who was filling in for Judy Ratcliffe, whipped Amberley Wolfe in three straight.

Beth Ellis and Bryan Gartner replied for Sterling. Ellis prevailed over Darrin Sinclair in five games while Gartner ousted Jean Beckerton, who was subbing for Darren Holcombe, in four.

Lesley Cabott and Patti Flather picked up the big points for Whitehorse Travel. Cabott took her match against Electrical's Shari MacIntosh by default while Flather got rid of David Buckler in four games.

Tracy Pittman and Chris Zeigler replied for Electrical. Pittman needed five games to beat Ashley LaBar while Zeigler sent Lara Lewis packing in three straight.

Shannon Tessier, Tara Matechuk and Kapri Martin were victorious for Northern Lights.

Tessier swept Navigo's Lisa Gudbranson in three games while Matechuk downed Zoe Walker in three straight. Martin, who was playing for John Kramer, won her match against Jeff Wright by default.

Ryan MacKinnon was the lone victor for Navigo, defeating Mark Beese in three straight games.
