Kumon advances to final with dominating performance

Kumon Learning and The Electrical Shop will battle it out in the Thursday Night Squash League final next week, following semifinal victories this week.

Kumon Learning and The Electrical Shop will battle it out in the Thursday Night Squash League final next week, following semifinal victories this week.

Kumon posted 22 points to Whitehorse Travel's six, while Electrical prevailed with 17 points over Sterling Insurance's 14. The travel crew and Sterling will now play for third place.

Meanwhile, Northern Lights Optometry downed Well Read Books 14-13 in a contest for fifth place overall in the league.

Winning their matches for Kumon were Darrin Sinclair, Ryan MacKinnon, Darren Holcombe and Jeanette Carney.

Sinclair swept Whitehorse Travel's Ashley LaBar in three games while MacKinnon, who was filling in for Judy Ratcliffe, needed five to beat Patti Flather. Holcombe prevailed over Lara Lewis in five games while Carney took care of Lesley Cabott in three straight.

Tracy Pittman and Chris Ziegler were victorious for Electrical. Pittman whipped Sterling's Amberley Wolfe in three straight games while Ziegler ousted Bryan Gartner in three.

Beth Ellis and Shari Thompson replied for Sterling. Ellis fought David Buckler for five games before emerging with the win while Thompson sent Shari MacIntosh home in four.

Tara Matechuk and Therese Aberson picked up the big points for Northern Lights.

Matechuk swept Well Read's Mark Dyer in three games while Aberson, who was subbing for Shannon Tessier, got rid of Ronie-Sue Spavier in three straight.

Jessica Borgford and Kapri Martin replied for Well Read. Borgford downed Mark Beese in five games while Martin, who was filling in for Benoit Brouillard, ousted John Kramer in three straight.
