After several narrow defeats, Kluane Mechanical finally came out with their first win of the season Wednesday, downing A-1 Auto Body 2-1 in 11-and-under coed soccer action.

The game was a hotly contested affair, with both sides grabbing glorious opportunities to score, but either a great save was made or the ball rolled just wide of the net.

Kluane opened the scoring when Matthew Smith was found all alone in the penalty area and nailed the ball into the corner of the net. The score stayed that way until just into the second frame, when Trevor Whynot used his speed for Kluane to evade opposition tacklers and score.

With the score 2-0, the Auto Body squad really started pressing. Smith, in net now for Kluane, was at his best, denying several partial and full Auto Body breakaways. Gage Preece notched the lone goal for A-1.

The MVP for the mechanical crew was Rylan Bechtel, for his outstanding hustle, while the MVP for A-1 was Matthew McCarthy.
