The Yukon Canoe and Kayak Club held its biggest event of the season Wednesday with its annual Whitewater Rodeo.

The first part of the rodeo contested of a freestyle competition where participants did three 30 second runs, attempting to perform as many tricks as possible.

Points were given out according to overall difficulty and execution.

The second portion of the rodeo was a race with both canoes and kayaks. The event concluded with a raft race, which featured three teams of five. One of the requirements of the raft race was that it had to be flipped at one point before finishing.

"It was a pretty big success," said John Quinsey, president of the Yukon Canoe and Kayak Club. "There was a huge crowd of people out to watch. It was a beautiful evening."

Prizes, donated by local businesses and retailers, were given out to the top three finishers in each category.
