Ketza maintains grasp on top spot

Ketza continued its dominance in Tuesday Night Squash League action with three match wins on the final night of the second round.

Ketza continued its dominance in Tuesday Night Squash League action with three match wins on the final night of the second round.

Ketza's Kenji Tatsumi defeated Gord Starko of the basement dwelling Yukon Brewing squad in three straight games in the best-of-five match; Steve Fectua downed Grayson Peters three straight and Tyler Martin needed all five games to edge Stephen Grundmanis. The brewery's only match was won by Chris Cullingham, who defeated Sam Penner in three games straight.

Ketza remains well ahead of the pack with 223 points, while Assanta sits in second with 200 points. Pizza Hut is third with 164 points; North Star Mini Storage is fourth with 158 points; School of hard knocks is fifth with 150 points; and Kilrich and Yukon Brewing share the cellar with 148 points each.

In other Tuesday night action, North Star won two of three matches with Jim Gilpin defeating Kilrich's Tim Carroll after four games and Lars Johansson downed Phil Jackson in three straight. Kai Knorr recorded the only match victory for the lumber yard but needed five games to defeat Chris Ziegler.

Assante and the School of Hard Knocks split the night with two match victories each, as the School's Tyler Nesgaard downed Lori Muir in three straight and Chris Coleman edged out Peter Mathur in five. Assante's Julien Revel squeaked out a victory over Blaine Tessier in five games, with the fifth game going into extra points and Revel finally winning 18-16. Trevor Mead-Robbins defeated Sophia Flather three straight for

Assante's other win.

In Thursday Night Squash League action last week, league leading Kuman Learning and Northern Lights Optometry split the evening with two matches each though Kuman took one match by default; Underhill took three of four over Emco and The Electrical Shop defeated Uniglogbe Travel three matches to one.

Northern Lights' Zain Syed defeated Kuman's Will Parker in four games, Amy Leach edged Kelly Panchyshyn in four and Kuman's Eric Bardin defeated Michael Knudtson in three games.

The Electrical Shop's Joanne Heyes defeated Jada Kwok of Uniglobe Travel after four games, Anna Lee needed all five to edge Uniglobe's Pam Zinck and the Shop's David Buckler earned the match against Shahid Syed after four.

Underhill's Marie Maratos defeated Emco's Jennifer Eakins after five, Coleman Newell defeated Muhammad Idrees in four games and Logan Small needed all five to edge Emco's Tara Grandy. Mustafa Syed earned Emco's only match of the night, going three straight against Graydon McDonnell.
