Keith Thaxter achieves top running time at weekly meet

Tuesday night was a midsummer night's dream for one runner and a race walker.
The cool, ominous looking weather did not deter 17 participants from taking in Athletics Yukon's weekly Intersport Five-km Fun Run and Walk.
For Dan Macdonald, Tuesday night's five-km run was almost like a dream. Not only did he run a personal best for this season, but it was also his best five-km time in three years.
Macdonald (22:14) finished in third spot on the men's side behind Tom Ullyett (20:34) and first place finisher Keith Thaxter (19:15).
Sue Bogle, a member of the now famous ‘Haley's Comets' triathlon team, took first place in the women's side (21:37).
Bogle glided through the course with a sub-seven minute per mile pace time of 6:59. Brock University student Coralie Ullyett finished second (26:55) and Tuesday night regular Megan Phillips placed third (27:23).
Race walker Ruth Hall also found herself in a dreamy state on Tuesday night.
She claimed first place for the second week in a row with a time of 34:21.
But, with a kilometre to the finish line, Hall had to turn on the afterburners to stay ahead of a charging Bonnie Love (34:25) and Arlene Ogden (34:32) who was firing on all cylinders as she crossed the finish line.
