More than 20 judokas from clubs across the Yukon celebrated World Judo Day last Friday.
More than 20 judokas from clubs across the Yukon celebrated World Judo Day last Friday.
The event, which celebrates the birthday of Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo, took place at the Canada Games Centre.
Participants played games and practised judo techniques during the hour-long special class.
An honourary black belt was awarded to Beverly James for her involvement in judo in the Yukon. James helps run the Hiroshikai Judo Club out of Carcross.
Judo has been practised in the Yukon for more than 40 years.
Whitehorse hosted the national championships in 1973.
