John Parry wins close five-km race

John Parry had the time to beat in Intersport's Five-km Fun Run/Walk race, while Colin Sterriah posted the top time in the 2.5-km category.

John Parry had the time to beat in Intersport's Five-km Fun Run/Walk race, while Colin Sterriah posted the top time in the 2.5-km category.

Parry finished with at 18:34, just beating his Father Bill by six seconds. Sterriah, meanwhile, won a two-man sprint to the finish over Darren Lucas.

Sterriah's time was 13:04, while Lucas came finished three seconds later.

This was the first Tuesday night fun run of 2009 and more than 30 people registered.

The run is held every Tuesday in Riverdale. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at F.H. Collins Secondary School.

The Tuesday run uses a portion of the Millennium Trail and finishes back by F.H. Collins.
