Yukon Brewing’s Eric Murphy finally got a goal as the Irish eyes smiled on him and the team as they held Quest Computers to a 3-3 tie in over-35 soccer action on Saturday morning.

The lead changed hands on a number of occasions as one team held ascendancy before the other fought back at the Canada Games Centre.

The game ended as a tie which was a fair result in the end. Scoring for Brew were Murphy, Guliano Rayo and captain fantastic Jim Connell, while Jim Brown, Andy Todd and Rob Florkiewicz got the goals for Quest.

The early contest Saturday was a pulsating affair as Klondike Business Solutions (KBS) held on to beat Pepsi 4-3.

KBS got off to a great start aided by goals from Chris Stacey (2), Rich Potter and an unfortunate own goal from Leonard Linklater.

However, Pepsi were not beaten quite yet. Urged on by skipper Phil Jackson, the reds scored through Chris Donohoe, Simon Pulido and Mark O’Brien, and pounded the KBS goal but the defence held on, well marshalled by the Keiths – Welch and Maguire.

Meanwhile, the oldtimer soccer league got underway with its first games of the season Jan. 3. The first contest of 2015 ended in a 2-2 draw.

Quest Computers keeper Geoff ‘The Cat’ Woodhouse was in sparkling form between the sticks in the early game at the Canada Games Centre.

Woodhouse was able to keep KBS at bay with a plethora of fine saves to hold them to only two goals.

Luckily for Quest they were able to get 2 themselves to tie the game up. Scorers were Danny Macdonald and Todd for Quest with John MacPhail and David Rayo hitting the net for Klondike.

With the frequency of Haley's comet, Chris Donohoe scored a rare right-footed goal as Pepsi beat Yukon Brew 5-3 in the second game.

In a great team performance, Pepsi were able to suppress a spirited Brew side who were cobbled together at the last moment.

Scorers for Pepsi were Donohoe, O’Brien, Pulido, Linklater and Jackson, with Guliano Rayo, Rob Bousquet and Kurt Bringsci replying for Brew.
