Hundreds take part in full-field championships

Over the weekend, the McDonalds Full-Field Soccer Championships where held in Whitehorse.

Over the weekend, the McDonalds Full-Field Soccer Championships where held in Whitehorse.

Some 25 coed teams took part with close to 350 players competeing.

In the 12-and-under division final, Rafter A Ranch, coached by Ammon and Boris Hoefs, snuck past Silver Spoke Adventures 2-1.

Remax took home the bronze medal by defeating Quarton and Sutherland 4-2.

In the 13-and-under final, Bumper to Bumper overpowered Qualita Cleaners 7-3. The game was very close until the final few minutes.

High Calibre Contracting edged Kal Tire 5-4 to win the bronze medal.

In the 15-and-under final, EBA Engineering overcame Energy North in another close game, 2-1, to take the gold.

East West Health Centre defeated Alkan Air in a penalty shootout to win the bronze medal after a 1-1 tie in regulation.

In the 18-and-under divison, Peterson Contracting and Mayo/Dawson were tied 1-1 after 60 minutes of play in the final. Then Mayo/Dawson scored in extra time and held on to win the title 2-1.

Yukon Outfitters denied Office Supply Centre 5-4 to win the bronze. Chad Fraser was the coach of Yukon Outfitters.

All the games had lots of action, spectators were numerous and, except for rain on Saturday evening which soaked many teams, the weather behaved itself.

Meanwhile, several divisions also held their final regular season games last week. Here are some of the results:

Thursday

13-and-under Coed Soccer

Qualtia Cleaners 5

Intersport 3

Brayden Kulych recorded a hat trick for Qualita Cleaners as they beat Intersport.

Ryan Burke and Kieran Small also hit the twine for Qualita, with Burke collecting MVP honours.

Seamus Beairsto, Michael Hare and Caleb Lane provided the offence for Intersport while Brett Roulston was named MVP.

Bumper to Bumper 11

Kal Tire 9

Jesse Cebuliak booted four goals for Bumper to Bumper as they prevailed against Kal Tire.

Michael Hunter, Tristan Olynyk and MVP Kurtis Hills chipped in two goals apiece for Bumper while Belgie Nunez picked up a single.

Tyler Wiens replied for Kal Tire with four goals of his own. Thomas Scoffin tacked on two goals while Thomas Pearson, Thomas Mostyn and Garret Heynen contributed singles.

Wednesday

18-and-under Coed Soccer

Assante Financial 8

G. Peterson Contracting 6

Emily Fedoriak and Sam Kumar collected three goals apiece for Assante Financial as they defeated G. Peterson Contracting.

Savanna Marks supplied the additional goals for Assante while Janelle Robertson was named MVP.

Erin Holloway and Nick Swizdaryk each netted two goals for G. Peterson while Michael Fisher and Jarret Kreft had singles.

12-and-under Coed Soccer

Rafter A Ranch 10

Quarton & Sutherland 0

Ryley Andrew, JJ Paul and Colin Kabanak notched two goals apiece for Rafter A Ranch as they blanked Quarton & Sutherland.

Tyrell Hope, Gauge Preece, Calden Hoefs and Martin Sealy claimed singles for Rafter while Matt McCarthy was awarded MVP.

Quarton & Sutherland's MVP was Emily Wilson.

Silver Spoke Adventures 8

Fountain Tire 1

Scoring came from all corners for Silver Spoke Adventures as they denied Fountain Tire.

Mike Wintemute, Travis Banks and Tyson Schaber each kicked in two goals for Silver Spoke while Ashton Schaber and Eric Fekete also scored.

Mairi Fraser posted the lone goal for Fountain Tire.

The MVP for Silver Spoke was Amanda Johnson while the MVP for the tire crew was Karine Potvin.

Remax 6

Whitehorse Star 2

Elliott Berg recorded a hat trick for Remax as they dominated the Whitehorse Star.

Matthew Smith added a pair of markers for Remax while Kasey Fernandes also found the back of the net.

Kevin McLachlan and Owen Hedstrom-Langford provided the offence for the Star.

The MVP for Remax was Jessie Erdman while the MVP for the Star was Owen Hedstrom-Langford.

Tuesday

13-and-under Coed Soccer

High Calibre Conracting 2

Woodhouse Business Consulting 0

Seamus Beairsto and Dawson Beaulieu hit the twine for High Calibre Contracting as they shut out Woodhouse Business Consulting.

The MVP for High Calibre was Kim Brown while the MVP for Woodhouse was Matthew Pollard.

Bumper to Bumper 11

Alpine Bakery 5

Bumper to Bumper broke open a first half tie en route to their decisive victory over Alpine Bakery.

Jesse Cebuliak netted four goals for Bumper while Belgie Nunez and Kurtis Hills chipped in three goals apiece. Robyn Fortune also scored while Shayna Jordan was named MVP.

Josh Hanson and MVP Dylan Sands each had two goals for Alpine and Brandon Langenhan had one.

Kal Tire 6, Qualita Cleaners 4

Monday, June 18

12-and-under Coed Soccer

Quarton & Sutherland 7

Remax 0

Heiko Nyland and Dominic Korn booted three goals apiece for Quarton & Sutherland as they denied Remax.

Liam Janke also scored while Kaitlyn Meyn was awarded MVP.

Elliot Berg took MVP honours for Remax.

Rafter A Ranch 3

Silver Spoke Adventures 2

It was a complete team effort for Rafter A Ranch as they snuck past Silver Spoke Adventures.

Tyrell Hope, Marten Sealy and Collin Kabanak picked up markers for Rafter while Matthew McCarthy was named MVP.

Mike Amirault posted both goals for Silver Spoke while Tyson Schaber was MVP.

Fountain Tire 4

Whitehorse Star 0

Logan Frasher had a big game for Fountain Tire, collecting three goals as his team blanked the Whitehorse Star.

Megan Lanigan added a single marker for Fountain Tire and was awarded MVP.

Dion Roberts was the MVP for the Star.
