Hot streak propels Lomas to top of pool standings
He’s heating up!
He’s heating up!
As predicted last week, moving day in the “Chase” for the Porter Creek Billiards Cup heated up Wednesday as several players made major moves in the standings – some for the better, others not so much.
Now sitting alone atop the standings is Chris Lomas.
Lomas, who is on a real tear of late, once again swept away his competition winning all three of his matches and now sits two points clear of a trio tied for second.
The trio is comprised of Rob Sinclair and Bob Edzerza – both of whom also swept their matches and jumped three spots in the standings – and Mike Fraser whose 2-1 record resulted in his slide back into the tie.
The biggest mover of the night was Oliver Robitaille who jumped up four spots and now sits four points back of the leader and just two points shy of a spot in the final four.
Robitaille – like Lomas, Sinclair and Edzerza – also swept his competition but his stellar play did come at a cost. He has now been reclassified as an A-ranked player which will require him to win additional games next week if he hopes to make it into the final four.
On the flip side, last week’s leader Carl Carpentier slipped four spots as did Bill Berezowski as they both posted 1-2 records for the night.
Now tied for fifth in the standings, both will have their hands full next week in the last of the round robin matches if they hope to move back up into contention.
Play resumes Wednesday at 7 p.m.
