It was an all around team effort that carried Hello Gorgeous to a 22-20 playoff victory over the Chilkoot Brewers in the Whitehorse Co-Ed Slo-Pitch League Wednesday at Whitehorse's Pepsi Softball Centre.

The B divisional game was a must win for Hello Gorgeous after the team dropped its first playoff contest against RCMP last week.

The Chilkoot Brewers looked like they were out of the game after Hello Gorgeous scored enough runs to mercy them in the fifth inning.

With the score 21-5, the Brewers went on an improbable offensive. The team drove in eight runs to close out the fifth and then added seven more in the bottom of the sixth inning to just fall short of tying up the contest.

This was Hello Gorgeous' first win in the playoffs, which maintains the team's chances of finishing in first place in the league's B division.

"I can't say enough for everybody pulling together and picking each other up when we needed too," said Hello Gorgeous' team manager and second baseman Charlie Mcleod. "There are some teams that let each other kind of hangout there alone and our team kind of came back and went out there as a team. I can't do it alone and neither can anyone else, so I am proud of everybody coming out to play big and play hard like that."

Hello Gorgeous finished the season with seven wins, 12 losses and three ties, which placed them in sixth place.

The Chilkoot Brewers did slightly better with 11 wins and 12 losses to place them in third overall in the B division. It's always a close matchup between the two teams and Wednesday's game was no exception.

Hello Gorgeous got off to a quick start in the contest, scoring two runs on timely hits and only one out. The team added two more runs as a result of some clutch hitting to take a 4-0 lead into the bottom half of the first.

The Brewers came out swinging in the team's first inning at bat. With just one out the team went to work, getting players on base and bringing them home on a few clutch singles. The score at the end of the first inning was 4-3.

With two out and the score 5-3, Hello Gorgeous went to work in the top of the second. The team got a clutch triple, which scored a run and then with the bases loaded a blooper to centre cashed in another run. The final score heading into the bottom of the second was 9-3.

With two outs and runners on the corners, the Chilkoot brought in a pair of runs on a triple to left field.

A double put runners on third and second base, but Hello Gorgeous got out of the inning before any more damage could be done when pitcher Leah Mcleod fielded a ground ball and made a perfect toss to first for the final out.

Both teams showed off their defensive capabilities in the third and fourth innings, maintaining the 9-5 score.

Hello Gorgeous broke the contest wide open in the fifth, starting the inning off with a liner to right field that fell for a single.

The team loaded the bases on two occasions in the inning and drove in 12 runs to take control of the game.

The Chilkoot Brewers enjoyed its most offensively successful inning of the game in the bottom of the fifth, driving in eight runs to keep the team hope alive of coming back in the contest.

The sixth inning started off with a highlight reel leaping catch made by Brewers centre fielder Bud Arnold to register the first out.

Arnold wasn't finished and registered the team's second out, which was a running stretching grab.

A liner to right field ended the inning for Hello Gorgeous, which managed just one run in the top half of the final inning.

In another impressive inning, the Chilkoot Brewers notched seven runs. The team could have easily tied the game up had it not been for Hello Gorgeous' pitcher hadn't knocked down a hard liner heading up the middle with runners on first and third. Leah wasn't able to get the runner out on first, however she prevented any further runs from scoring on the play.

The game ended on a grounder that the runner heading to second base managed to beat out, but the follow up throw to first was just in time to register the third out.
